1.What type of experience do you have?

Before allowing someone in on the planning of your event, it is wise to understand how long they have been in business, what types of events they have planned and if they are a part of a company or if they work alone.

2.Will you work alone, or do you have a team to help you?

The bigger the event, the more hands you'll need on deck! This is very important to know up front. You should meet all team members and have contact information for them all as well as know who is assigned to what specific task.

3. Are we going to be working together?

It is always a good idea to work with your event planner to assure yourself there are no unwanted surprises during your special day.

4. What is the biggest/smallest event you've handled?

This will allow you to understand whether or not your event planner can accommodate your requests.

5. Do you offer packages, what are the cost of your services?

Based on your budget, you'll need to know if they charge a flat fee or an hourly rate. Be sure to get a list of all the included services in the contract and that any potential additional charges along with a explination of each be included as well.

6. Will you keep us on/under budget?

A good event planner should be able to lock down enough vendor discounts which in return will offset the cost of their services.

7. How are refunds handled?

In the event of a cancelation or postponement, how much (if any) of your deposite will be refunded?

8. Will you be attending the event?

You'll need to know this in the case a emergency, if the event planner will not be available for the event, request that someone from their team be attending.

9. What's the best way to contact you? What times are best?

Honestly, this should be up to you to decide. Let your planner know how you choose to contact them and how often you look forward to hearing from them especially during the planning process.

10. Who are some of the vendors you suggest for my event?

a good event planner should be able to find the best vendors for the best price, avoid planners who try to discourage you from using specific vendors as opposed to others for no solid reason, they just might be attempting to sway you toward vendors who offer them rewards for new business.
